Mi casa es tu casa! Our humble house in Pucón. I lived there with Raphael (L), Gerryboy and Graciella (who took the picture).

Ready for the vulcano!
Pucon08.jpg
mmm. Hot Springs and cheves..We were afterwards told that it is a very bad idea to visit the hot springs the day before the vulcano trip. After two hours in the hot springs you're quite wasted.

Pucon12.jpg
The sissies take the lift...The vulcano "Villarica" (2956m AMSL) is an active vulcano with a lava-pit down in the crater. Here we are at 1.400m. As it is a ski resort in the winter, you can take the lift up to 1800m. But the vikings walk all the way...
Pucon13.jpg
Cheaters!Raphael and Graciella took the guides advice and took the lift. It proved that the first 400 vertical meters are the toughest on the trip. But it was nice warmup for me and Gerry - and we soon caught up with the two others.

The gear. The coolest part of the trip was the metal set of dentures to strap under the shoes. With these things you could you run up the icy slopes without even thinking about it. I totally want a pair!

The mighty vulcano god had a lot of gas that day...
Pucon25.jpg
Der er koldt på toppen - men en fremragende udsigt. The top! Quite windy, but we prefered this to the stinky gas from the vulcano that leaked out from under every stone. The earth where we are sitting was probably 30 degrees C hot.

Cheve time! The reward after 4 hours of walking...

Sacrifice to the Vulcano God!
Pucon31.jpg
GassyIt was quite a pity that there was so much gas. On some days there is a fountain of lava, but we where only able to see gas. We where afterwards told that if we had held our camera further over the edge we would be able to see the magma. But it was also quite freaky to hear the bubling sounds!!
Pucon32.jpg
And now the fun part!!Sliding down the vulcano on the popo, was quite entertaining at first. Since it is a long time since it has snowed there are icy tracks left to slide in - like a bob-sledge. The ice-pic was used to control the speed. It later became a quite wet and dirty business...
Pucon34.jpg
The bottom picture. For a true mountaneer the bottom picture is more precious than the top picture. But we all made it.
Pucon35.jpg
Vulcan Villarica. And here is the vulcano seen from our house when we returned from it. Perfectly cone-shaped. Notice the smoke from the top.
Pucon33.jpg
Sliding through a cloud. Here I am, totally wet to the bone, in the middle of a cloud.
Pucon36.jpg
mmm. 500g beef...
Pucon37.jpg
Beef and Vine to celebrate the victory.

The sea-lions of Pucón
Pucon40.jpg
Ready for rafting! With all the gear we are ready to raft! We took the difficult river (class 4-5 out of 5). It was really, really fun, but not very wild.
